RSS Feed

June 9th, 2004 - 10:47am

Earlier this morning Richard (not the Richard I’ve mentioned in some earlier posts) asked me if I had an RSS feed for my site. My answer was “of course I do”. I quickly pointed him in the direction of the feed and continued on my way.

I thought it might be a good idea to double-check that the feed was still indeed present — it was. However, when I checked the feed with the Feed Validator, things fell into a little heap.

After mucking around for about 20 minutes, I realised that Dreamweaver, for some reason, was converting all the HTML-type tags to capitals. This is not something it should be doing, and causes a lot of problems since the tags for RSS feeds are case-sensitive. Once I’d realised Dreamweaver was at fault (and that’s the first time I’ve ever seen it do something like that), I used Notepad and manually transferred the file to the web server.

I have tested the feed on the Feed Validator and using an RSS agregator called SharpReader and it’s working properly now. Thank God for that.

Now that you’re all asleep, the link for the RSS feed is available here, as well as in the menu on the right. Thanks Richard for motivating me to fix it! One question though, why annable.nu and not annable.org?

Annable.org is hosted in Texas and looks after my mail. Annable.nu is hosted under my dining room table and looks after my stuff.

Fair enough. bludger.org is hosted at zoneedit.com, along with my mail. It redirects to our ye olde P133 sitting in a corner in our computer room.
