What’s the deal with rumours?
August 6th, 2004 - 10:12am
Walking into work this morning, I was approached by a couple of the guys who motioned for me to come over and talk to them.
They were speaking in hushed tones and asked “Is it true?”. My answer was, of course, “Huh?” as it normally is when I have no idea what someone is saying to me. Their reply was “Well, is it true you’re leaving?”.
Erm, OK. I have mentioned to my boss that if the right job came along, I’d take it. I mean, who wouldn’t, right? If the “perfect” job appeared, most people would jump at the chance. Otherwise, I’ve not said anything of the sort to anyone.
I tried to coax from them who they heard it from but they wouldn’t tell me. Why would someone start a rumour like that? Perhaps there’s someone who wants me out. Maybe I’ll stay just to spite … someone. Yeah, that’s it!
Update: Just so you know, when I told the two guys that I wasn’t leaving, they breathed a sigh of relief and commented that they were happy I was staying. Just so you know, is all…
