Zzzap!

A guy at work brought in one of those PainEze units that were apparently featured on Ray Martin crapfest, A Current Affair.

It was mainly to demonstrate to someone with neck pain it’s benefits, though I personally can’t tell you whether or not it made him feel better. “It’s weird,” was his answer when asked, if that helps at all.

Of course, we couldn’t resist some fun, so I got him to stick it to my forearm (just below the elbow), and he turned it on.

Nothing.

He turned it up. Oh wait, there it is, my arm’s warm. Nope, the unit’s not working, I imagined it. Try again.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Hey, my muscles in my elbow are twitching… Cool! He turns it up again. My ring finger starts twitching and contracting. Interesting. It’s turned up more. My finger is permanently contracted, and some of it’s neighbours are closely following suit. He turns it up a few more notches; it’s not at maximum yet.

That doesn’t matter, because I can’t control most of my fingers on my left hand now — the ring finger is especially difficult to move. I try to straighten it again, what an effort! I barely get the finger straight before it collapses on itself.

What fun. Not a toy, but fun in a “let’s torture ourselves” kind of way… Though it didn’t hurt at all. Definitely a strange sensation; I’ve had muscles twitch uncontrollably before, but never as severely as that.
